PREZ SAYS - JAN 2012
Happy New Year, 2012 is well under way. The WMCC’s first ride for the year was the Presidents ride to Beechworth. An enjoyable weekend ride which we hope to repeat. It’s great to get out of town with friends for a couple of days, oh and there’s the riding. Unfortunately we had another non starter this year. Greg B had an off on the Mansfield to Whitfield road.  Fortunately no broken bits. Get well soon Greg. It’s hard to get back into the swing of things as we had two weeks off over Christmas and New Year. We took off and traveled around the bay. It was my first real break in ages and boy, did I need it. Anyway, trying to get into the groove at work. I made myself a promise that I will try and take more time off and re-charge the batteries. Hope you all enjoyed your Christmas and New Year period as much as I did. See you at the February meeting.

MOTOLUG
The Motolug trailer is lightweight, space-saving and a very robust collapsible motorcycle trailer that can be easily stored, carried from your shed, assembled and your bike loaded in a few minutes and you’re off. When it’s not in use, the trailer can be packed away just as quickly and stored in the boot of your car, in a cupboard, under a bench or even hung on a wall.

PREZ SAYS - OCT 2011
The classic motorcycle is alive and well. Well that’s my professional opinion. I have seen a massive increase in RWC Inspections or Roadworthy Certificate Inspections to classic motorcycles since the new 45/90 day Club Permit Scheme was introduced this year. For approximately $60 per year for a 45 day permit and around $110 for a 90 day permit, more folks are getting on board this cost effective way to enjoy “Hobby Motorcycling” That’s around $400-$500 cheaper per annum than normal Full Victorian Registration. The condition of some of these bikes is amazing. Some are better than new. There are also some modified cafe racer style bikes coming through that are just a work of art. So if you have a bike that’s 25 years or older from the date of your application you are eligible to join the scheme. You can download an application form from the Vic Roads web site www.vicroads.vic.gov.au So don’t think you need an old Trumpy, BSA or Vello to be part of this. If you have a bike around 1986 or older you’re in.

'Prez says' - June 2011
Another year as top dog. Well I can honestly say that the job is made a whole lot easier with the help of the rest of the committee and usual helpers, thank you. It’s definitely not a dictatorship as we all have our say at committee meetings and guide our club into another successful year. This brings me to Bikes by the Bay. We got a full page of coverage in the latest copy of “Old Bikes Australasia”, issue No 26. Ian L’s name is at the bottom of the article as a contact. The event is called a winner and described as an event that “will surely develop into an excellent must attend part of the classic bike culture”. The 2012 event will be bigger and better as we have already started planning. Winter has really hit hard with icy cold winds and frosty grass. I must be getting old as I am fitting heated grips to my 748R as soon as I get a chance. I can’t wait for summer as we didn’t seem to have one this year. We are planning a couple more overnight trips so stay tuned. Andrew P has got a few ideas and I’m sure he won’t disappoint. Andrew needs a huge pat on the back as he has been the ride captain forever. I’m sure he might be looking for a break at the end of his term, so all you budding ride captains come forward. We will also introduce a Sunday lunch Ride. You can ride or drive. It’s just a social get-together for a couple of hours on a random Sunday so web site and SMS will have details shortly. That’s all for now, see you all at the meeting.  Ride Safe

MERCHANDISE SURVEY
Vick modelled a sample of the new windcheater at the AGM, it had the club emblem printed on the front. It had mixed reactions, with some clubbies preferring the large emblem on the back, with the smaller emblem on the front left, same as the T-Shirts, others liked the emblem on the front. He needs to get an idea of the numbers and printing preferences.
Please respond ASAP to his survey which you'll find in the latest newsletter

'Prez says'
Bikes by the Bay, what a great event it turned out to be. Even the weather gods smiled upon us! All that worrying for nothing. With the help of some club members, we put on a great show. With Tommy Blank organizing some great blues bands, the Pirates Tavern serving up the drinks and our food stall going flat out all day. I can’t believe that a club member boycotted the event due to its location change. All I can say is that you missed out! The annual general meeting is coming up next month, so if you would like to become more involved in the club let a committee member know what position you would like and you might just get voted in. You must be a paid up financial member. We are also presenting the Club Person of the Year award so get the nominations in before Tuesday 17th May. And only one vote per member. For those of you that don’t know, AnneK will be leaving us and heading to Kalgoorlie in Western Australia to live. She is packing her Ducati ST2 into the container and no doubt will enjoy stretching its legs on some long straights. I would like to thank Anne for her huge efforts and contributions to our club over the years. She will be missed. That’s all for this month. Ride safe

'Prez says'
It's Sunday morning and the sun is shining. I'm still buzzing after our fantastic Broadford track day yesterday. If you didn't go you missed a great WMCC event that was low key, no pressure and absolutely the best fun you can have on a motorcycle. I love this place, its one of my favourite tracks. I have been racing there since 1995. The track is quite technical with positive and negative camber corners and an undulating layout that keeps you busy the whole lap. No time for naps like Phillip Island! We had an uneventful day with no crashes, which is always good, only a few went dirt tracking but managed to keep it upright. Keith was riding his Desmosedici and drew a small crowd for most of the day. It sounded fantastic! I would like to thank all that helped on the day especially our 'Plasticine Chef' Norm that kept us fed and Jill for her admin work. Also thanks must go to Grant for showing the newbies around the circuit. The rain stayed away all day and the sun even came out in the arvo. I thoroughly enjoyed my Saturday off work and can't wait for the next one.  Ride safe.
